5 Things to do/see in London

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all are enjoying the nice spring weather. I thought I would share some of my favourite things to do in London.  Some of the places below do a 2for1 deal. This offer is valid certain places and you have to have travelled to London on the same day. Booklets for the offers are available at all train stations. I will leave a link below to the website with all the other offers.

Tower of London
The Tower of London is one of the oldest sights in London. It was first built around 1066. It was used as a prison during the Middle Ages where later the prisoners were executed in Tower Hill.  This is a great place to take children to learn about history and how people were treated. The tower is home of the Queens jewels, such as her coronation crown, which is amazing to see. The middle tower is called the white tower, which is the oldest part of the whole historic site. Just to let you know it is better to visit the White Tower later in the day because there is a line up to get in. The axe and chopping block is housed in the White Tower. If you travel by train National Rail to London you can do 2for1 deal for the Tower which is a,very good deal.

Buckingham Palace
The very famous Buckingham Palace is the home of Queen Elizabeth. If you visit the palace at 11 you can see the changing of the guard ceremony which happens everyday. In the summer, when the Queen visit her Scottish residence of Balmoral, you can tour the palace which is absolutely amazing. I did it a few years ago and I loved it.

Theatre
There are a lot of theatres in London. I think it isn't for Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cameron Mackentosh, there wouldn't be shows. Phantom of the Opera is at Her Majasties Theatre, and Les Miserables is at the Queens theatre. If you go to Leicter Square, on the south side where the Hampshire Hotel is there is a very small building that sells half price Theatre tickets. All money forom each sale goes to the theatre which I think is really good to know because most of them don't.

Cruise the Thames
A cruise down the the river Thames is a pleasant thing to do while in London to finish off the day. For £17 you can travel from Westminister to Greenwich which about a hour and a half journey. If you traveled to London by train you can do the 2for1 deal, which is the same deal as the Tower of London.

Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford City
I love shopping in England, you can get different items that you can't get here in Canada. Or depending on what the item is, cheaper. Westfield Stratford is the largest mall in Europe which I didn't know until very recently. It is quiet to visit in the morning just after is opens. Late afternoon it can get quite busy. This shopping centre has all the major stores, New Look, Superdrug, Marks and Spencer's and much more.
